The Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, in cooperation with the President of the European Council and the European Commission, is organising the Tallinn Digital Summit to bring together EU heads of state or government on 29 September 2017.
Technological transformation and digitalisation profoundly affect our jobs, industries, education and welfare systems. As has been stated in the Rome Declaration, it is essential for Europe to embrace technological change, in order to ensure a prosperous and sustainable future for our citizens. While addressing the challenges of a rapidly changing world, we must offer our citizens both protection and new opportunities.
The Tallinn Digital Summit will be a platform to launch high-level discussions on further plans for digital innovation with the aim of keeping Europe ahead of the technological curve while becoming a digital leader, globally, in the years to come.
The Summit discussions will consider a longer timeframe (up to 2025) and be focused on the essential topics of building a digital future for Europe: trust, security, e-government, industry, the economy, and society.
The media registration for accreditation to the Tallinn Digital Summit is already open on the Estonian Presidency website. The official programme will start at 10.00 CEST (11.00 Tallinn local time) with a doorstep and conclude with a press conference at the end of the day. The media programme and guide will be published on the event page by September. We advise everyone to book their transport and accommodation as soon as possible.
We also offer a media pre-programme on 28 September that showcases the Estonian experience in building a digital society – participation slots for the pre-programme are limited, so we advise registering early. From below you can also download the pre-programme outline draft. Please note that the registration for the pre-programme will be open until 8 September. Please also note that media accreditation to the Summit is necessary to participate in the pre-programme.
