This marks the start of the opening ceremonies for the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Keeping with the ‘Unity through balance’ motto of the Presidency, the 29 June opening ceremony for the Estonian Presidency – taking place at Tallinn Creative Hub (Kultuurikatel) – offers everything from traditional Estonian songs, singing traditions, and music styles to the modern Estonian heavy metal band Metsatöll.
A free concert also takes place on Freedom Square at 19.00, the same day.
A press conference by Prime Minister Jüri Ratas and the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker follows on 30 June, in conjunction with the College of Commissioners visit.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia, Jüri Ratas' speech

- Ode to Joy performed by Merike Paberits, Ulvi Võsa and Katariin Raska
- Lööme mesti (Let’s do it together) and Kivine maa (Land of stones) performed by Metsatöll
- performances by Renate Keerd's company Nii
- as well as performances by the Estonian National Opera Boys’ Choir and the Estonian National Opera Young Men’s Choir.
