The aim of the transnational seminar is to inform the public about the barriers that cause scientific performance discrepancies within the countries of the EU, to complete the list of innovative measures widening the participation created during a study carried out in the first half of 2017, and suggest directions for political interference to increase participation in research and innovation initiatives in the European Research Area (including the Baltic Sea Region). The original list of innovative measures originates from a survey carried out during the first half of 2017.
As a result of the conference, the members of Baltic Science Network (where relevant national ministries, science policy makers and universities from the Baltic Sea Region work together as full partners) formulate national action plans based on the suggestions of the conference and the study; and a suggestion for a regional strategy is composed.
