EU ambassadors confirmed today the outcome of the final informal trilogue of 5 December, on a proposal to modernise the EU's trade defence instruments.

The proposed regulation amends the existing basic anti-dumping and anti-subsidies regulations to enable them to respond better to unfair trade practices. The purpose is to protect EU producers from damage caused by unfair competition, ensuring free and fair trade. The agreed measures create a framework which will allow for the possibility of higher tariffs on dumped or subsidised imports.
